Sex Toy Review: nJoy Pure Wand

The Product: nJoy Pure Wand

The Verdict: 4/5

If you make a habit of reading sex toy blogs, you’ve probably seen someone wax rhapsodic about the beautiful 1.5-pound hunk of polished, medical-grade stainless steel that is the nJoy Pure Wand. I’ve lost count of how many glowing reviews are out there, some going so far as to proclaim that it’s simply the only G-spot toy that will do. I had trouble believing the hype.

See, I’ve tried a lot of sex toys. While I don’t have an accurate count right now – because it surpassed double digits a long time ago – my best guess would be 115. Of those, I have a collection of about 60 that I keep scattered around my bedroom.

None of them is like the Pure Wand.

The Toy

The Pure Wand’s design is simple but perfectly specific. It’s made for a single task: Hitting the G-spot or the prostate with amazing precision. As they say, professional tools yield professional results. This is a professional tool, from one bulbed end to the other.

Speaking of which, let’s talk specs. This dildo is 11 inches long if you measure along the curve, and the bulbs are 8 inches apart if you simply measure the straight distance from end to end. The smaller bulb measures 1 inch in diameter, while the larger bulb measures 1.5 inches. While most people wouldn’t consider either bulb particularly big, the fact that steel has absolutely no give to it means that they can feel a bit bigger in use if you’re used to softer materials like silicone. Because the Pure Wand is solid steel, it is heavy: 1.5 pounds. This means that if you have arm or wrist mobility challenges (like arthritis), it may not be something that you can use on your own.

But there are some serious plus sides to using this kind of steel. First, it’s capable of being perfectly polished and smooth with absolutely no drag, save for the small and lightly textured nJoy logo in the very middle of the shaft. This means you can go light on the lubrication. It also holds temperature extremely well, so I would suggest running it under warm water before use. (You can, of course, use cold water for temperature play, but I don’t recommend using hot water because you could actually burn yourself.)

Sex Toy Review: OhMiBod Lovelife Cuddle G-Spot Vibrator

The Product: OhMiBod Lovelife Cuddle G-Spot Vibrator

The Verdict: 4/5

Whenever I say “OhMiBod” to anyone they usually respond “The music vibrator?” and yes, OhMiBod is the company that brought us vibrators that work with music but they have done many other cool things too. Among them, the Lovelife line of moderately-priced silicone toys. Decked out in pink and hearts, beautifully packaged (seriously, I have used boxes from the Lovelife toys to organize my office!), and named for what the creators see as the cornerstones of their relationship (Adventure, Smile, Share, etc.) the Lovelife toys range from cute to impressive. Hanging out on the more “impressive” side of the scale is the Cuddle. (You can read about OhMiBod’s founder here.)

So, what’s the deal with this toy?

The Cuddle is a rechargeable G-spot vibe featuring 6 speeds. The size and shape are reminiscent of many popular (and significantly pricier) G-spot vibrators, although it features a head that walks the line between nonrepresentational and representational with its bulbous shape and subtle coronal ridge.

How does the OhMiBod Cuddle work?

The Cuddle comes with a USB charger that inserts into the bottom of the handle. There is no wall adapter included, but I have charged mine using the adapter that came with my phone. The Cuddle is operated using a heart-shaped button that features three symbols: “+,” “-” and “~” . Its 6 vibration speeds are controlled by pressing and releasing the +/- buttons while the 6 functions are controlled with the ~ button, which can be used at any vibration speed. The Cuddle is splash-proof not waterproof. That means you can bring it in the shower but not submerse it in water.

How does the Cuddle feel?

The Cuddle is beautifully made. The pink part is a luxurious matte silicone and the white part is ABS plastic. The silicone body does not bend but there is a bit of squish to the ridge of the head.

No, seriously, how does it feel?

The length of the cuddle is a little on the short end for G-spot toys, so I was aware while using it that an extra little bit might have been pleasant. That said, the bulbous head brings a fullness that I’ve often found longer toys to be missing. It’s the Cuddle’s versatility that makes it such a great toy, though. The motor actually outperforms some of the pricey vibes I’ve tested (although I would like the vibrations to have more rumble and less buzz) and, while it’s designed to hit the G-spot, it works well externally for clitoral stimulation too.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for something that works well as a clitoral vibe and G-spot toy, the Cuddlecould be for you. It’s not going to satisfy folks who want a ton of power or huge girth but it’s definitely a solid rechargeable clitoral vibe and small G-spot toy that won’t break the bank.

Things I Love About the OhMiBod Lovelife Cuddle:

  • Body safe silicone and ABS plastic
  • Beautiful design and packaging
  • Strong motor
  • Rechargeable
  • High quality at a not-astronomical price-point

Things to Consider About This Vibe:

  • The Cuddle is not waterproof. This may not matter to you (and it’s part of what keeps the price point low) but if you want to submerge your toys, this is not the one for you
  • The pink and hearts may be off-putting to some. (That said, other will probably love Cuddle’s look.)

The OhMiBod Lovelife Cuddle retails for $69 and you can get yours from PleasureTease

Thank you to OhMiBod for sending me the Lovelife Cuddle to test!

7 Super-Sexy Undercover Sex Toys

Maybe you’re the type who proudly displays her dildo collection on the mantelpiece for all to see. If you are, well, you rock – more power to you. But for many people, one of the big sticking points to owning a sex toy is embarrassment. Maybe you’re happy to have a little help getting off, but the thought that someone will spot your stash kills your buzz.

But even if you’re loud and proud about your sex toy collection, it can be nice to have a few pieces that fly under the radar, whether for travelling, or for your own personal amusement. Here are a couple of super-sexy sex toys that won’t blow your cover.

Desir Metallique Handcuffs

These gorgeous mesh bracelets by Bijoux Indiscrets are great for a night out. But, should you decide to stay in, they can be hooked together to make a set of sexy handcuffs. If you like to be tied up, these cuffs can provide a secret, sexy cue for your lover. And, while the cuffs will attract plenty of admiration, you can keep all your dirty thoughts to yourself.

Liberator Wedge

The term “sex furniture” often beckons images of either cheap sex swings or medieval-looking bondage contraptions you’d need an entire spare room to house. And, while each has its place, neither is exactly subtle. The Liberator Wedge, on the other hand, is very understated. But don’t let that fool you. This simple little wedge has achieved legendary status for a reason. It is perfectly designed to provide stable support and juuust the right angle for a very long list of steamy sex positions, many of which might be too uncomfortable – or totally unachievable – without its support. This firm, high-density foam wedge is also thoughtfully designed, with a moisture resistant liner and a soft, microfiber cover that can be zipped off for easy cleaning. The best part? You can mix it in with a few throw pillows and no one will be the wiser.

Crave Vesper

Forget those dorky Google glasses or vests filled with circuits, the Crave Vesper is where it’s at when it comes to wearable tech; it’s a slim, elegant necklace that doubles as a quiet, powerful vibe. It looks good, it feels good and it can be your little secret. And, baby, this ain’t just a novelty item. This tiny vibe has four speeds and pinpoint precision for hitting the exact spot that’ll take you straight to O-town. They say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but what did a diamond ever do for you? This one sparkles, comes in a beautiful black box and it’ll get you off. Boom. The Twenty One Vibrating Diamond is an unconventional looking vibrator, but its unusual shape is actually its super-power – with so many sides and surfaces (including a sharp tip for pinpoint-precise stimulation) if offers all sorts of erotic possibilities. It’s also waterproof and recharges via USB. It’s a gem!

Love to Love iScream Dildo

I scream, you scream, we all scream … for a giant silicone dildo in the shape of a popsicle! No? Hear us out. The iScream Dildo is, in fact, 6 inches of body-safe, neon-pink silicone. On a stick. it looks just like a popsicle, and can actually perform temperature play quite well when refrigerated. Plus, it’s freaking adorable – and cheekily discreet.

Kinklab Vampire Gloves

A nice pair of leather gloves can be sexy all on their own, but this set by Kinklab pushes this simple accessory toward the sadistic. The soft, subtle leather gloves are equipped with tiny metal spikes along each finger. Run your hands over your partner for a sharp tickle – or dig in harder to cross the line into pain play. If you’re looking to add new sensations to your sex life, these are a great option. And, when you aren’t using them, they’ll look innocent as can be sitting in your closet.

Bijoux Indiscrets Oral Lip Gloss

This lip gloss duo by Bijoux Indiscrets is designed to deliver both hot and cold sensations, adding a whole new dimension to your next blow job. It’s also a secret, super-sexy surprise you can carry everywhere.

5 Totally Unique Sex Toys You Should Try Before You Die

You may not be aware of it, but there are a lot of sex toys out there. Thousands. Tens of thousands. Maybe more. And while that sounds pretty exciting, the truth is that a lot of these toys are more of the same old thing. Another wand vibrator. Another clitoral thingy. Another rabbit. Another sleeve. Not that there’s anything wrong with any of those staples, especially if you find one that’s well designed and that pushes your buttons in all the right ways. That said, there’s something to be said for novelty. After all, isn’t that part of the reason we reach for sex toys anyway – in a bid to experience something new? Fortunately, there are a number of sex toys out there that are breaking the mold and doing something different. And by different I don’t mean “terrible” or “creepy” or “gimmicky” “oh my god, what’s this thing doing to my body?” Sometimes, different is good. Here are five sex toys that are truly unique and different – but in a good way.

The Womanizer W100

At this point, it sounds almost too trite to say that the Womanizer doesn’t look like – or carry the moniker of – a sophisticated piece of erotic equipment. Reviewers have said that it looks like a zit zapper, a Bedazzler or a “bedazzled Barbie ear thermometer,” and that its appearance causes “aesthetic dismay.” But maybe this toy’s kitsch is all part of its charm. Or … maybe not. Either way, many people are loving this toy’s unique combination of gentle clitoral suction (yes, suction!) and vibration. It is a weird toy, but if you’re looking for something different – and orgasmic – this one fits the bill.

We Vibe Tango Pleasure Mate Collection

OK, first of all, this isn’t a toy, it’s a collection, people. What that means is that you essentially get three toys for the price of one. You get a G-spot dildo (the Glow) and an anal plug (the Dusk), both of which are designed to be powered by the We Vibe Tango. So, essentially, you get three great toys for slightly more than the price of one. Plus, while the Tango is technically a bullet vibe, it’s scores better than most of the other ones on the market in terms of power and design. In fact, it has lots of fans who use it all on its own. In other words, this cool collection is functional, innovative and three kinds of fun.

The Eroscillator

What’s unique about the Eroscillator? Well, first of all, it doesn’t vibrate, it oscillates. And that makes all the difference, at least to the clitoris. Oscillations provide deeper, more penetrating stimulation, allowing the toy to reach well beyond the tip of the clitoris and into the entire clitoral complex. This toy also comes with a whole grab bag of different attachments to help you customize the toy – or change things up. And, yes, it’s kind of weird-looking (read: ugly). But you’ve probably heard that it’s what’s inside that counts. And it does. This toy isn’t a cult classic for nothing.

nJoy Pure Wand

The nJoy Pure Wand was initially designed as a prostate toy. It does its job in that department, but it may be even better known these days as one of the best G-spot dildos around. No matter where you stick it, 7.5 inches of polished stainless steel is bound to have an impact. It probably isn’t the best toy for first timers, but if you’ve been experimenting with G-spot or (P-spot) stimulation and want to take things to the next level, this sensational toy will definitely steal the show.

Hot Octopuss Pulse II

Until recent years, male sex toys were kind of lagging in terms of innovation. There were prostate toys and masturbation sleeves. And more masturbation sleeves. But that was about it. The Pulse II by Hot Octopuss offers something totally different. It’s essentially a vibrator designed for a penis. By fitting over the head of the penis, this toy promises a hands-free orgasm. Or, get the Pulse II Duo, which vibrates inside and out so that it can be used with a partner.

Review: The Mimi Vibe by Je Joue

The Product: Je Joue Mimi Vibe

The Verdict: 4/5

Aesthetic, discreet, velvet smooth: this is Mimi. She’s a clitoral toy who will fit in the palm of your hand. Pardon me, I know a vibrator’s inanimate, but I call Mimi a “she” because I swear to God that’s how you’ll think of her the first time you see her elegant form in the lovely black gift box that comes with every product from Je Joue. Je Joue advertises Mimi as a vibrator that’s excellent both for beginners and experienced users, which I can definitely agree with.

The Toy

Mimi has five settings for intensity and six settings for pattern. Intensity ranges from fairly low-key tremors to an impressively intense buzz. Pattern settings go like this:

  1. Even, sedate pulses
  2. A rumble I can only compare to revving the engine on a motorcycle
  3. More abrupt pulses
  4. Pulses in very quick succession
  5. Quick, even pulses
  6. Long, evenly timed pulses

Overall, Mimi’s got a lot going for her. She’s very couple friendly, and can be used either in missionary (her flat shape makes her ideal for inserting between the two of you to get right at your clit), or in doggy style. When used alone, her shape offers multiple opportunities for enjoyment as well, whether flat, or for high intensity, you can concentrate vibration by using the tip. The lighter settings and various patterns are very useful in terms of buildup, and Mimi is a wonder for using all over the body and on the nipples (or for couples, on his shaft or balls).

Mimi also comes in four different colors, rose, pink, black and purple.

The Highs

Mimi is so silky smooth that I believe she really eliminates the need for any sort of lubricant. This toy is also ridiculously easy to clean – just run it under water with a little bit of soap. Mimi is discreet, both in terms of volume and looks. If anything, this vibe looks more like an exceptionally elegant pet rock than a vibrator. For her size, she is impressively strong, and the different settings are really quite effective. Not to mention how easy and pleasant she is to handle. She also has a magnetic charger, so there’s no need to buy batteries! There are a few other minor perks as well: There’s a tiny red heart on the side of the toy that blinks red while Mimi is being charged, and goes steady when the toy ready for you. Adorable. This toy is also just so gorgeous and touchable. Forget using it on your clit – you’ll just want to rub it on your face.

The Lows

One drawback to this toy – for me anyway – was that some of the higher settings were extraordinarily strong. I know some people like this kind of power, but I found that even the second-lowest setting could become numbing after awhile. The highest (fifth) setting was like the drone of a hundred angry bees. My guess is that more sensitive women will find it a little unfriendly (I did). Je Joue’s website suggests letting Mimi’s vibrations transfer through your fingertips with stronger settings, but I did not find this technique to be particularly remarkable.

Also, while Mimi is very sleek, that also makes the buttons a little difficult to press, especially in the heat of the moment (so to speak), or when you’re trying to turn it down because your roommate’s knocking at the door. And fumbling with buttons when you’re on the tipping point? Not cool, Mimi, not cool. The center pattern button is especially tricky. Mimi also makes you go through the entire cycle of pulse variations to get back to the original setting. Sometimes by that point, you’ve lost your mojo.

The Verdict

It’s really too bad that Mimi’s buttons proved rather inconvenient come show time. She’s so alluring in every other way that you want her to work out – I wanted her to work out so that I could give her the five hearts she’d otherwise deserve. As it is, I’ll have to go for four out of five.

Sex Toy Review: Satisfyer Pro Penguin

The Product: Satisfyer Pro Penguin

The Verdict: 4.5/5

Innovative sex toys are my jam so when I was offered the chance to review the Satisfyer Pro Penguin, a relatively new toy on the scene that bills itself as a “pressure wave vibrator,” I was more than willing. With so many toys on the market becoming more and more complicated, I was pleased to see how simple and cute the Satisfyer Pro Penguin is. Its adorable design shouldn’t fool you, though. This toy has some serious vibes. It also boasts some high-end features: it’s waterproof and USB rechargeable. It has been compared to the Womanizer Pro – without the high price tag – and is said to be great for anyone who likes oral stimulation. Naturally, I had high hopes for my next solo sesh. Here are my thoughts, unfiltered.

Satisfyer Pro Penguin: Toy Design

“Cute” is the best word I can come up with for the design of the Pro Penguin. I love that it’s made of silicone and is small (read: I can put this in my carry-on bag when I travel) but I fear that there was more focus on form than on function here.

While other Satisfyer toys have the head at a right angle, making it easy to position the toy on the clitoris, the Pro Penguin is angled outward, making it less convenient to use and harder to hold in the right spot. Not a huge deal but I definitely noticed it.

There are two buttons on the side of the toy facing your body. One is the power button, the other is for changing the intensity of the vibrations (we’ll get to that in just a minute). Let me just say, I’m a big fan of obvious buttons. The Pro Penguin’s buttons are not obvious. During my first go at using it, I had to fumble around with the buttons to figure out how to adjust the vibes. After a few moments of mild annoyance, I figured it out. By the time I was ready to turn the toy off (and by ready I mean I really need to get this thing off of my clitoris), I couldn’t easily shut it down. It turns out you have to press the smaller button for several seconds – like, longer than you think you’d need to.

The overall design is not my favorite but, to be honest, none of it was really a deal-breaker for me because, well, orgasms.

Those Vibes, Though

I can get off with just about anything, as long as I’m in the mood, but the Pro Penguin made that really easy. It has 11 different settings ranging from a slight rumble to a generous vibe that was, if I’m being honest, a little too much for me. If you like strong vibrations, push the intensity button 11 times and you’ll be well on your way to an orgasm. Personally, I prefer it on a 5 or 6. And this toy really gets to work; I went from “this feels nice” to “whoa, OK, here we go” in about three minutes, which is pretty awesome if you’re trying to squeeze in a quick masturbation session.

The clitoral suction was nice but didn’t quite live up to the promise of the simulation of oral sex for me. I will say that my partner using the Pro Penguin on me during foreplay was a nice addition to our usual routine, though. It got me ready to go in less time than it took to pause the latest episode of “Scandal,” so I’m satisfied with that.

The vibrations are not just for your body, though. They are also for the ears of anyone who happens to be in the next room. The moment I pulled the nozzle away from my body, the toy rumbled so loudly that I was sure my roommates could hear it in the living room. Personally, I don’t care. When you live in a house with other adults, you get used to sex sounds. Some people might find this to be a turn-off, though.

Yes, yes, yes!

So, I’ve whined a bit about design and function, I know. But the Satisfyer Pro Penguin has some great characteristics too. It’s rechargeable with a USB (so much easier than scrambling to replace batteries before the mood passes), it’s waterproof (hello, bubble bath!), and has vibes for days (if you can handle it).

Not So Much

Well, the “meh” side of the equation for me is the angle of the head and the fact that the clitoral suction wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped for. The buttons were annoying but, again, not a deal breaker because this thing really delivers in terms of quick, satisfying orgasms. The pros outweigh the cons, in my opinion.

The Verdict

The Satisyer Pro Penguin isn’t fancy, but it’s inexpensive and it does what it does very well. If you’re looking for a toy to take on vacation, help you reach orgasm in less than five minutes, or supplement your usual dildo or vibrator routine, this is a solid choice. There will always be toys out there that are sleeker and quieter, but the Pro Penguin is adorable and makes for great – if slightly noisy – fun. I say go for it!

Thank you, PleasureTease, for letting me test this out!
